You've Been Brain Washed to Smoke:

Brain washing works by gradually implanting an idea into your mind until it becomes accepted as the norm. During the Korean war American p.o.w.s were gradually converted to Communism through slow drip methods over a period of weeks and months.
Brain washing from cigarette companies was more devious and more subtle.
Your friends and those you admired that smoked were unwittingly recruited to sell you this toxic idea.
Like some giant pyramid scheme with no cash returns only wealth at the top of the pyramid and a chain of misery below.
When you were a child images were slowly dripped fed  into your mind through advertising magazines, tv and movies acceptability of this known to be deadly habit made its way into your unconscious.
You knew it was dangerous but always thought you would stop one day.
Maybe that day did not come yet and it just continually kept being moved on to tommorow, next week, next month, New Year, on your birthday when ever maybe it came and did not last and besides it hasn’t made me ill yet.

The cigarette companies through sponsorship would place their cigarette brand in the picture with you favourite movie star so that smoking slips its way into your acceptence with positive associations.

Did you know that smoking is linked to the opposite of what it does?

Its associated with sex. Yet It causes impotency!

Its associated with glamour yet it makes you age faster!

Its associated with confidence when it becomes a prop!

Its associated with beautiful environments yet it pollutes the air you breath!

Many stop with will power alone and congratulations to all those who have done that.

Pavalovian Conditioning:
 
A famous Russian psychologist called Pavalov conducted experiments with dogs and rang a bell every time he fed them. After this conditioning took place every time he rang the bell the dogs would saluvate.

The bell became the trigger for automatic production of saliva from the salivery glands. This is a purely automatic response.

 A big part of your smoking habit is Pavalovian conditioning and instead of bells its breaks coffee, after dinner, on the phone, when you are stressed anxious, in the pub etc.

I remember the smoking warning adds on TV when I was a kid. Where super-villian type character called nicotine  would say  ‘’ One puff and they will soon be in my grasp ‘’ whilst this add was done with a good intention it was reinforcing a belief smoking is hard to quit.
The lifes victims you meet will re-enforce it as they are at the mercy of every one and play no role or responsibility for their life.

Many people believe the habit is so addictive it would be impossible to stop.

The delivery system of nicotine contains 30 Cancer Causing Chemicals  If your neighbour started pumping these chemicals into your garden you would not tolerate it for one instance. 

This habit wormed its way under your radar you never decided to start you just tried it or thought it would be ok for a while. It took you by surprise and became a part of your lifestyle. How long has it been now?

The con makes you think its worth it because you have forgotten that it felt better when you were a non smoker.
 
It kids you into thinking it helps you feel better this is because satisfying a craving has made you think you are getting something out of it.when this is clearly not the case. 

It feels uncomfortable when you stop and you haven’t so you are not incontrol of your life 

Like a victim of a bully or an abusive relationship you make excuses for the habit and invent reasons to justify it. 

You may have at one time thought there are some rewards like looking sophisticated or cool.
 
You may think it gives you confidence or helps defeat negetive emotions.When infact responding to the seemingly unpleasant emotions will bring you more rewards because they are there to inspire change.

You may even have a brand loyalty to the company that is slowly choking the life out of you. 
 
The satisfaction is as lasting as a cup with a hole in the bottom because this drug leaves your system so fast.

One of the ingredients in a cigarette is embalming fluid yet smokers don’t get discounts on funerals. 
 
It makes no claims for doing anything positive yet it does what it says on the pack.

Some smokers know great old uncle or auntie or know of a smoker that lived to an old age. Sadly this is not the case for most.
